New York Film Academy Acting For Film Showcase
Are these actors ready for the cover of Vanity Fair, or what? Students from New York Film Academy’s MFA Acting for Film program participated in an industry showcase that brought out scores of entertainment professionals. Produced by Valorie Hubbard and directed by NYFA instructors Maria Gobetti, Anthony Montes, and Tom Ormeny, the performances featured short film clips, scenes, and monologues from 28 actors. The event was held shortly before the students’ graduation, and was a huge success, with all 28 actors receiving callbacks from agents and managers! Congratulations to our rising stars!

Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood spent an afternoon with students at New York Film Academy in Los Angeles. In addition to their numerous television and film appearances, the improv actors are well known for the years they spent on the British and American versions of Whose Line is it Anyway?
The crowd cracked up as Colin and Brad screened clips from their show Two Man Group. After the screening, the duo discussed their jobs and answered questions from students. Colin joked, “It’s amazing to me that we can make a career doing this.” Brad described improv as being “like jumping out of an airplane and knitting a parachute on the way down.” The pair then invited up a dozen excited students to participate in a hands-on improv lesson.

Recent Graduates Score Interviews at Industry Screening
The New York Film Academy congratulates our October One Year Acting for Film graduating class for their success at the industry screening last week! After each of our classes graduates, students participate in a private screening for industry professionals to showcase their talents. The graduates of our One Year Acting for Film October Class of 2010 received seven requests for interviews with casting directors and talent agents, a huge step forward in their careers. Special thanks to Roger Del Pozo, our Assistant Director of Admissions, for bringing new industry faces to meet our graduates. We can’t wait to hear from you guys!
